[News Release] Release of “MOLT AIR” and “MOLT FOAM” from HAYABUSA MOLT Series

■ Background of the Launch

Today’s improvement of service quality in the auto detailing industry is astonishing. Because of this, requests of tools and equipment are diversified, and especially the market share of long throw polishers, a.k.a. random orbital polishers, is growing day by day. Now it has become known as an independent product category in countries around the world including Japan. However, although anyone can use these long throw polishers (hereinafter called LTP) easily, the Velcro part and intermediate layer of a pad tend to break because of the stress caused by eccentric rotation power with high torque. Also, recently many cars tend to have complex exterior shapes and thin and soft paint, so taking this into account; we have continued research and development of buffing pads which are perfect for use with LTP for three years.

“Soft but Springy”

This conflicting catchphrase is a development concept based on the test results we have gained during development. For example, this expression organizes and integrates a lot of test results, such as softness to conform to bumpy and concave parts, strong springiness to apply pressure and completely polish the panel edges, and well-balanced formula which does not feel sticky when you work on the rounded front part of the hood. Based on this catchphrase, we narrowed down the focus points to the following 5 and developed the products.

• Having fundamental performance as a “tool” to efficiently bring out abilities of machines to be attached, mainly LTP, and abrasives like polishing compounds.
• Having flexibility to conform to rounded and concave parts.
• Being able to apply appropriate pressure and completely polish edges, detailed parts, and the like.
• Well-balanced even at both low and high speed
• Having high durability in addition to the above performances

We adopted two core technologies while multidirectionally repeating tests and trial productions: “AirFreed Manufacturing Method” to make the world first boa style pad to keep the air space between worsted yarn by applying two-layered special treatment around each yarn without ruining the texture of it and “FreedHole” (*patent pending) to buffer and disperse stress applied in the center of the pad. In addition, its structure is also designed from the theoretical point of view by verifying the material itself based on the experiences and knowledge that we have acquired for a long time in product development. This led to the birth of MOLT products optimized for LTP, such as ones with two-layered structure that achieve both functionality and durability at high level and ones with a well thought out tapered balance.
